Resource Management and Planning implements University policies under the direction of Vice Chancellor Gary C. Matthews.  These polices include the acquisition, effective management, and/or disposition of the financial, physical, and real property resources within its authority.

Audit & Management Advisory Services (AMAS)  examines, evaluates, and advises management of the University's system of internal control.

Auxiliary & Plant Services (A&PS) provides a variety of services to UC San Diego faculty, students, staff and the community, and includes six sub-units:

Campus Research Machine Shop   provides design consultation, welding services and fabrication of specialized parts and equipment.

Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) and Mesa Child Development Center (MCDC) provide safe and nurturing environments for children three months to six years of age.

Facilities Management maintains buildings, grounds, and vehicles, provides design and construction services for non-CIP projects, and provides sustainability and building commissioning services.

Imprints provides campus copying and printing services, copier supplies and maintenance, online ordering, self-serve copy centers and complete library services.

Transportation Services provides sustainable access and alternative transportation solutions for the University Community, UCSD Campus, Medical Centers, and Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

UCSD Bookstore offers a comprehensive selection of books, educational supplies, computer products, souvenirs, and coffee/grocery shops: Perks and Sunshine Market.

Campus Budget  provides professional resource management services, budgetary and financial analyses for the campus, maximizing resources that are allocated to the campus by the Office of the President.

Campus Planning  provides data for academic planning, enrollment management, and includes four sub-units:

Capital Planning  coordinates and facilitates the capital process on the campus, serves as the main conduit for communications with the Office of the President for initial Regental and Presidential project approval, and is responsible for space program development and justification, along with funding analysis.

Financial Analysis (FAO)  is responsible for facilities and administrative cost analysis, recharge activities, rate review, capital debt management, external financing, and consultation of federal costing issues.

Institutional Research (IR)  provides data analysis, reports, and services to inform campus decision-making and planning in areas such as accreditation, administrative space planning, campus population, enrollment management, faculty workload, instructional space utilization, and the validation of space data in the FacilitiesLink system.

Planning and Data Systems  provides computing services and data associated with campus planning activities including FacilitiesLink.

Community Safety  is committed to building community partnerships while enhancing public safety on UCSD campus.

Environment, Health & Safety  is dedicated to the reduction of risks within the UCSD community, and to the promotion of safety as a value in our university culture.

Facilities Design & Construction  implements the Capital Improvement Program, project planning, schematic design, design development, bidding, and award of contracts.

Policy & Records Administration  processes the Chancellor's mail, coordinates Regents' items, and maintains administrative policies and procedures.

Real Estate  manages the acquisition from leasing, licensing, and development of University-owned property by non-University entities.

Strategic Campus Resource Initiatives   plans and manages campus resources, provides data for site evaluations for new facilities and environmental impact reviews, and includes two sub-units:

Community Planning  is responsible for maintaining an effective liaison between UCSD Campus and the San Diego community regarding the campus' physical development.

Physical Planning  prepares and oversees the implementation of land use plans, evaluations of site options for new facilities and environmental impact reviews.

Strategic Energy Initiatives  is embarking on various innovative renewable energy projects that will produce more than seven megawatts of energy for the university.
